Chelsea in contact with Quilindschy Hartman, move delayed

Chelsea and Quilindschy Hartman have reportedly been in contact over a possible summer move, which will not see the light of day.

According to a report by Dutch outlet 1908.nl, Quilindschy Hartman is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are scouring the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window. And they have been in contact with the 22-year-old Feyenoord full-back. However, his long-term knee injury has forced the West London club to delay a move for him.

Who is Quilindschy Hartman?

Quilindschy Hartman is a native of Zwijndrecht who spent his formative years in the Netherlands. A left-back by trade, he turned out for the academies at VVGZ and Excelsior Rotterdam before joining Feyenoord in July 2010. He rose through the ranks at the Eredivisie club in the proceeding decade before breaking into the first-team squad a few years ago.

Now a mainstay at the back for Feyenoord, the 22-year-old has turned out 38 times thus far this season for the club, chipping in with seven assists. In addition, Hartman has broken into his national team, making his debut for the Netherlands in October 2023. Meanwhile, his progress has captured the attention of several well-known clubs.

Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are interested in securing Hartman’s services in the summer transfer window, with reports linking him with Newcastle United and West Ham United. The Dutch left-back has now emerged as a target for Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.

London calling?

The report by 1908 has claimed that Chelsea and Quilindschy Hartman have been in contact over a possible move in the summer transfer window. However, with the youngster picking up a season-ending knee injury, any deal for him will not see the light of day this year.

The 22-year-old Dutchman will miss most of the remainder of 2024, meaning it does not make sense to sign him this summer. However, Chelsea can do with a left-back amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Ian Maatsen and Marc Cucurella. So, it is hardly surprising that Chelsea held talks with Hartman.

However, with the Dutch left-back out for several months, Chelsea should look elsewhere to bolster the left-back department. It will be interesting to see who becomes Chelsea’s left-back signing in the summer transfer window.
