Chelsea will reportedly compete with Manchester United to sign 20-year-old Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez from Premier League club Bournemouth.

According to a report by Daily Mirror, Milos Kerkez is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are in the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window. But they will face stiff competition from fellow Premier League club Manchester United, with the Red Devils also keen on the 20-year-old Bournemouth left-back.

Who is Milos Kerkez?

Milos Kerkez has established himself as one of the best left-backs in the world since joining Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in July 2023. A native of Vrbas, he was eligible to represent Hungary and Serbia before joining the former as his national side. Meanwhile, the Hungarian international spent most of his formative years in Hungary before ending his youth career at AC Milan.

But he rose in prominence during his stint with AZ Alkmaar, spending 18 months at the Dutch club. The 20-year-old arrived in the Premier League last summer and has not looked back, becoming a mainstay at the back for the Cherries. He has turned out 26 times thus far for Bournemouth, chipping in with an assist.

Meanwhile, Kerkez’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Recent reports have linked him with Chelsea, with the West London club in the market for a left-back. But the Blues face stiff competition from Manchester United heading into the summer transfer window.

Chelsea, Manchester United Want Kerkez

Manchester United will delve into the market for a left-back in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils have suffered on the left-hand side this season, with Tyrell Malacia yet to play a game and Luke Shaw spending most of the campaign on the sidelines. So, Milos Kerkez is a viable target for Manchester United.

As for Chelsea, the Blues are also scouring the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window. Ian Maatsen will likely complete a permanent move to Borussia Dortmund this summer, while Marc Cucurella might be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge. So, Kerkez is an option worth considering to alternate with Ben Chilwell next season.

The 20-year-old is growing in stature in the Premier League and can be a solid addition to the Chelsea and Manchester United squads. It will be interesting to see if Kerkez’s stint with Bournemouth ends after only one season.
