Premier League heavyweights Tottenham are reportedly interested in 28-year-old German international Jonathan Tah, whose price tag is €18 million.

According to a report by Sport BILD, as relayed by Sport Witness, Jonathan Tah is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The North London giants are keen on signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen will demand €18 million to part ways with the German international.

The Jonathan Tah Story

Jonathan Tah has been one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga for nearly a decade. The 28-year-old rose in prominence at Hamburger SV, spending over half a dozen years at the club. Bayer Leverkusen signed him in July 2015, and he has come leaps and bounds since then.

The German international has turned out over 300 times thus far for Bayer Leverkusen, chipping in with 14 goals and 11 assists. He has been an integral member of Xabi Alonso’s squad, which has risen to the top of the Bundesliga table this season. But Tah’s long-term future at Bayer Leverkusen is uncertain after entering the final 18 months of his contract.

The player’s situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Premier League outfits, in particular, are interested in securing his services. And Tottenham might be one of his potential destinations in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Interested in Tah

Widespread reports have linked Tottenham Hotspur with Jonathan Tah for months. The North London club’s interest in the German international is understandable, considering Eric Dier will likely complete a permanent move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window.

In addition, Japhet Tanganga faces an uncertain future at Tottenham after embarking on two loan spells this season. So, it behoves the North London club to invest in a centre-back, with Tah emerging as a viable target. And the 28-year-old will come at a cut-price fee, with Bayer Leverkusen demanding €18 million to sell him.

It will be interesting to see if Tah’s stint with Bayer Leverkusen ends after eight seasons at BayArena. If that happens, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium might be a potential destination for the German international.
