Tottenham will reportedly compete with Chelsea and Manchester United for 27-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

According to a report by German outlet Kicker, Jonathan Tah is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The 27-year-old has a “fundamental desire” to move to the Premier League. The Bayer Leverkusen defender is also a target for other English heavyweights like Chelsea and Manchester United.

Jonathan Tah and The Desire to Move to The Premier League

Jonathan Tah has been a regular for Bayer Leverkusen since arriving from Hamburger SV in July 2015. The German centre-back has endured bouts of inconsistency at BayArena. But he has been one of the top performers for Die Werkself during the transformation under Xabi Alonso, with the club sitting atop the Bundesliga table.

The 27-year-old has turned out 324 times thus far for Bayer Leverkusen, chipping in with 12 goals and 11 assists. But Tah’s future at the Bundesliga club is uncertain as he will enter the final 18 months of his contract in January. Meanwhile, the report claims that the player wants to move to the Premier League, with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham interested.

Which Clubs are Interested in Jonathan Tah?

Chelsea’s interest in Tah stems from Thiago Silva’s advancing age. The Brazilian defender will turn 40 next year and might leave the club to return to his homeland. In addition, Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile face an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. So, Chelsea can do with a new centre-back, with Jonathan Tah being a viable target.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils will likely part ways with Raphael Varane next year. The Frenchman has reportedly had a few run-ins with Erik ten Hag, and Manchester United will cash in on him in 2024. So, Tah is an option worth considering to replace the former Real Madrid defender.

But Chelsea and Manchester United face stiff competition from Tottenham for Jonathan Tah. The North London club will delve into the market for a centre-back, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven being the only reliable options for Ange Postecoglou. So, the interest in the 27-year-old defender is understandable.

Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that Tah might leave Bayer Leverkusen in 2024. So, with the German international keen on moving to the Premier League, it will be interesting to see where he lands amid the tussle between Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham.
