Chelsea will not offer a new contract to Thiago Silva, as the experienced star could leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

HITC has claimed that Chelsea will not renew Thiago Silva’s deal in the summer as the 39-year-old veteran could end his stay at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are likely to make a change to their backline to replace the Brazilian veteran, as some options are already being considered.

Thiago Silva to leave Chelsea?

Despite his advancing age back in 2020, Chelsea took the decision to sign Thiago Silva, and that move has paid its rewards. The Brazilian, who turned out more than 100 times for his national side, was instrumental in them lifting the Champions League crown as well as the Club World Cup after that.

Silva has made more than 100 appearances for the Blues in the Premier League alone, although the experienced mainstay could see his spell come to an end this summer. Chelsea are prepared to part ways with the veteran when the season ends, meaning they might look for ways to replace him.

Silva too remains unsure of his future at the club, although he has no plans to hang his boots just yet. The 39-year-old still has plenty to offer at a good club, and there are talks of a move back to Brazil. He might consider staying in Europe if a viable offer arrives, but that will not be at Chelsea.

Chelsea are not keen on offering a new deal, as they have done with him over the last two seasons. The Blues had kept hold of the veteran on rolling one year deals, but they might put a stop to that in the close season. The club are already lining up a replacement with Jean-Clair Todibo considered as a main target in that respect.

Silva’s immediate future under threat?

While there are widespread reports suggesting Chelsea will part ways with Silva, the veteran could also find his current status within the team questioned. After a series of bad results, and similar performances from all players, the focus has been on the Brazilian for his display in the defence.

Chelsea have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League, although they did win in their FA Cup clash against Aston Villa. Silva did not start the game at Villa Park, with Fabrizio Romano casting doubts over his immediate future at the club.
