Thiago Silva has no intention to retire, although he does not know where he will play next season, as his Chelsea contract expires in the summer.

According to Bola Na Rede via Sport Witness, Chelsea mainstay Thiago Silva does not know if he has a future at the club but insists he wants to keep playing here or elsewhere. There are plenty of possibilities for the 39-year-old as he seeks to continue playing at the highest level.

Thiago Silva has been one of the defensive pillars in Europe for a long time now. The Brazilian was a top star at AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and now Chelsea. At Stamford Bridge, he won the Champions League, which was probably the most shiny trophy in his enormous cabinet of accolades.

The 39-year-old is coming to the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea likely to part ways with Silva in the summer. The Brazilian veteran, despite his advancing age, has no intention to step aside from his playing career, as he intends on playing for a while longer.

Silva also has links to Brazil, with Fluminense interested in the 39-year-old defender. However, his recent comments may point towards him wanting to stay in Europe. For now, Silva remains unsure of his next destination, but he hinted he wishes to keep playing at the top level.

Silva said, “I’m closer to the end of my career. I will continue to play football, but it is not yet decided where”

“I have a few days to think and rethink what I’m going to do. I don’t think I’m better known in Europe than in Brazil, but I believe I’m a little more respected here than there, that’s for sure.

Chelsea are already planning on a succession plan for their key defender. Earlier, they had considered Ousmane Diomande as a critical target, but in recent times, Leny Yoro has emerged as a target for the Blues as a successor to Silva.

Chelsea will have to spend a hefty amount to replace the 39-year-old, who has continued to play a vital role on their side. However, the time may have come for the veteran to take a step back from Premier League football and move on to another challenge, possibly his last one in Europe.
