La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Borussia Dortmund attacker Donyell Malen, whose price tag is £60 million.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Donyell Malen is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are seriously considering a 2024 move for the Borussia Dortmund attacker, who also has suitors in the Premier League. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga giants will demand £60 million to part ways with the Dutchman.

Donyell Malen: A Borussia Dortmund Asset

Donyell Malen has established himself as a pivotal figure for Borussia Dortmund since arriving from PSV Eindhoven last year. While the 24-year-old encountered some teething problems at the Bundesliga club, he has slowly grown in stature at the Signal Iduna Park, producing many game-changing performances.

The Dutchman has a solid tally of five goals and two assists in 18 appearances across all competitions thus far this term. Malen’s progress at Borussia Dortmund has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many high-profile clubs. And Real Madrid might be one of his prospective suitors.

The report also suggests that many Premier League bigwigs are keen on securing Malen’s services. Recent updates have pointed to Liverpool being one of the prospective suitors for the Dutch attacker. But Real Madrid’s entry into the equation will complicate matters for his other suitors.

Real Madrid Calling?

Real Madrid will likely delve into the market for a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. While Rodrygo Goes has produced much-improved performances in the last few weeks, he is one of only two long-term offensive options for Los Blancos. Meanwhile, Joselu’s loan deal will expire at the end of the season, while Brahim Diaz faces an uncertain future at the Bernabeu.

So, it behoves Real Madrid to invest in an attacker, especially amid claims that Kylian Mbappe is no longer a top target for them. Malen has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid. But Borussia Dortmund will not let him leave for a cheap sum, demanding at least £60 million to begin a conversation around him.

The Bundesliga giants want a premium to part ways with the 24-year-old, which makes sense. But Real Madrid’s interest is only in its infancy, meaning a bid is not on the cards yet. It will be interesting to see if the Merengues shell out £60 million to secure his services next year.
