Real Madrid will not sign 24-year-old French international Kylian Mbappe next year even if he leaves Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Cadena SER, Kylian Mbappe is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. But the Merengues have decided to abandon their move for the 24-year-old. And they will not launch the offensive to sign the World Cup winner even if he leaves Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.

Kylian Mbappe has established himself as one of the best players in the world in the last half a dozen years. The French international broke onto the scene at AS Monaco, taking the game by storm in his teenage years. But he has taken his performance up several notches since moving to Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017.

Les Parisiens secured Mbappe’s services on an initial loan deal before completing a permanent transfer in 2018. Since then, the 24-year-old has been a talismanic figure for his club and country, winning several titles with PSG while clinching the 2014 FIFA World Cup title with Les Bleus.

But Mbappe’s long-term PSG future is uncertain, as he has entered the final year of his contract. However, the World Cup winner has not let that affect his game, as he has 12 goals and one assist in 14 appearances thus far this term. Meanwhile, his contract situation has captured several high-profile clubs, none more so than Real Madrid.

Widespread reports have suggested that Mbappe is the priority target for Real Madrid heading into the 2024 summer transfer window. The Merengues chose not to sign a replacement for Karim Benzema when he joined Al-Ittihad this past summer. And the PSG talisman has been their top target to fill Benzema’s void.

Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that the 24-year-old World Cup winner has his heart set on joining Real Madrid. But Los Blancos will not launch the offensive to secure Mbappe’s services next year even if he leaves PSG as a free agent. The main reason for the surprising decision is his enormous salary.

In addition, Mbappe’s age profile does not align with Real Madrid’s transfer policy, even though he is several years away from turning 30. Finally, his decision to renew his contract with PSG last year left a sour taste in their mouth. So, Mbappe’s other suitors, like Liverpool, will have renewed hopes of landing him next year.
