Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are reportedly keen on signing Chelsea utility man Trevoh Chalobah in January.

According to a report by German outlet BILD, Trevoh Chalobah is the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund. The UEFA Champions League regulars are in the market for a centre-back heading into the January transfer window. The Chelsea utility man has thus emerged as a target for Edin Terzic and Sebastian Kehl.

Trevoh Chalobah has seen his stock drop amid the mounting instability at Chelsea. The 24-year-old was a regular under Thomas Tuchel, who brought the best out of him. But he has been in and out of the side since the German manager departed from Stamford Bridge early in the 2022/23 season.

The versatile defender has seemingly gone out of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans despite donning the armband for Chelsea in a few games during the pre-season campaign. And the Blues were happy to part ways with him in the summer transfer window, with Bayern Munich emerging as his preferred destination.

But a move did not materialise, with Chalobah remaining at Chelsea. Meanwhile, he has yet to feature for the West London club this season due to a hamstring injury. But game time will likely come at a premium when he returns, with Chelsea ready to part ways with him. However, the Chelsea utility man has no shortage of suitors, with Borussia Dortmund emerging as a suitor.

Edin Terzic and Sebastian Kehl are laying the groundwork for the January transfer window. The two key Borussia Dortmund decision-makers are keen on signing a centre-back. The update is hardly surprising, considering Mats Hummels is approaching the end of his career. In addition, Nikle Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck have blown hot and cold at the Signal Iduna Park.

So, it behoves the UEFA Champions League regulars to invest in a centre-back in the January transfer window. Chalobah has thus emerged as a viable target, with Terzic and Kehl pushing to sign the Chelsea utility man.

But the Black and Yellows will likely face stiff competition from other Champions League regulars for Chalobah’s signature. Recent reports have claimed that Inter Milan might be in the pole position to sign him. Meanwhile, Tuchel remains keen on a reunion with the 24-year-old at Bayern Munich.
