Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan are reportedly in the pole position to sign 24-year-old Chelsea utility man Trevoh Chalobah.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Trevoh Chalobah is the subject of interest from Inter Milan. The 24-year-old is also a target for several other European bigwigs, including Bayern Munich. But the Serie A giants lead the race to sign the Chelsea utility man in the January transfer window.

Trevoh Chalobah has reached a crossroads in his career after becoming a bit-part player for Chelsea. While the Englishman proved himself under the tutelage of Thomas Tuchel, his stock has dropped in the last 12 months. And things have gone from bad to worse since Mauricio Pochettino took charge.

Granted, Chalobah has spent the 2023/24 season thus far on the sidelines. But Chelsea had been keen on cashing in on the 24-year-old utility man in the summer transfer window. Their stance has not changed, with Chelsea still eager to part ways with him in the January transfer window.

Recent reports have claimed that Financial Fair Play sanctions will force Chelsea’s hand anyway. Nonetheless, Chalobah does not feature in Pochettino’s plans, with the Argentine tactician ready to sanction his sale. Meanwhile, the homegrown player has no shortage of suitors, with Inter Milan and Bayern Munich interested in him.

The Serie A giants bolstered their defensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing Benjamin Pavard, Yann Bisseck and Francesco Acerbi. But Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij are on the wrong side of 30. So, it behoves Inter Milan to invest in a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window.

Trevoh Chalobah has thus emerged as a viable target for the Nerazzurri. His ability to play as a right-back and a holding midfielder also makes him an appealing target for Inter Milan. And the Serie A giants are the front-runners to land the 24-year-old Chelsea utility man in the January transfer window.

While Bayern Munich will provide stiff competition and will be an enticing destination, Chalobah is open to joining Inter Milan. So, the Serie A heavyweights lead the race to sign the Chelsea defender, and a winter move is seemingly on the cards.
