Aston Villa lead race to sign Jon Rowe

Aston Villa are keen on Jon Rowe, who has had a brilliant start to the Championship season with Norwich City.

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa are looking to sign Jon Rowe from Norwich City. Unai Emery feels the need to bring in a young attacker to their side and have set sights on the 20-year-old Championship forward, who has had a bright start to the Championship season.

Aston Villa have been one of the astute operators in the transfer market over the summer. Unai Emery wanted to build on the success from last season, where they finished seventh and qualified for the Conference League.

The club allowed the basque manager to spend properly on preferred targets, and so far, Villa have looked like a club on the ascendency. They ended the previous Premier League matchday in fifth position and are on course to do well in their Conference League group.

While Emery will continue to target players good enough for his first-team plans, he also wants the club to target additional stars in a younger age category. He craves an attacker in that aspect and has had much success grooming young forwards during his time at Villarreal.

Norwich City’s Jon Rowe emerged as a target for Villa, as they could ponder approaching in future windows. That could come in January, but considering they are seeking a long-term objective, Norwich would open the doors in the summer.

Crystal Palace are also ready to rival Villa for Rowe, and with the start, the 20-year-old Championship forward has had, he will have more clubs queuing up. The Norwich star has scored 7 goals in 13 appearances for the Canaries in all competitions, helping them rise to seventh in the standings.

He also made his England U21 debut and scored against Serbia in a 9-1 routing. He was on the bench against Ukraine in the following fixture, and by his growing stature, he could become a regular on that side.

The interest from Aston Villa will likely motivate the 20-year-old Championship forward to new heights. He will certainly consider moving if the Villans make a concerted approach and an offer on the table. He will have to face the challenge of competing with some seasoned stars like Ollie Watkins, but Rowe should be open to the quest.
