Reece James is reportedly committed to Chelsea amid relentless interest from European bigwigs like Barcelona and Real Madrid.

According to a report by 90min, Barcelona and Real Madrid are among the clubs keen on signing Reece James. But the 23-year-old is committed to Chelsea despite the relentless pressure from the top clubs. And he will not leave the West London Club anytime soon.

Reece James has been with Chelsea since 2006 and rose through the ranks at the West London club in the subsequent decade. The English international had to cut his teeth at Wigan Athletic in the 2018/19 season. But he defied the “loan army” tradition at Chelsea and established a foothold at Stamford Bridge in the 2019/20 season.

Since then, the 23-year-old has come leaps and bounds, establishing himself as one of the best right-backs in the world. And despite his fitness woes in the last two seasons, he remains a pivotal figure for Chelsea. James, who has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for the Blues, became the club captain in July after the departure of Cesar Azpilicueta.

But James’s Chelsea future has been uncertain in the last few weeks due to the emerging interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid. Reports have also claimed that the Englishman wants to join Los Blancos if he leaves Chelsea. But 90min has suggested that the player is committed to the West London club and does not want to leave anytime soon.

Barcelona’s interest in James is understandable, considering Joao Cancelo’s loan deal does not have a purchase option. So, Barcelona might not be able to sign the Portuguese international in a permanent deal next summer. Hence, they must scour the market for a right-back, with James emerging as a viable target.

Meanwhile, the Chelsea captain has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. And the Merengues remain keen on signing the 23-year-old as soon as possible. With Dani Carvajal approaching the final phase of his glittering career, Real Madrid should invest in a right-back. And James is an option worth considering for Los Blancos.

Meanwhile, apart from Barcelona and Real Madrid, James is also a target for Bayern Munich. But with the English international committed to Chelsea, none of the European bigwigs will manage to secure his services anytime soon.
