Reece James is reportedly flattered by the idea of joining Real Madrid and has given his word that if he decides to leave Chelsea, it will only be for a move to Bernabeu.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Chelsea skipper Reece James wants to make the move Real to Madrid and has already said yes to a switch to the Bernabeu if he leaves the West London club in future.

Real Madrid have been gradually transitioning their team into a new era of stars in recent transfer windows. Players like Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni are examples of that, while they roped in another Galactico signing in the form of England star Jude Bellingham, who has already hit the ground running.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez will “continue fine-tuning” his squad of young global stars in the coming windows and is “already rubbing his hands” at the prospect of landing his next top target, as he already has a “yes” on a deal that would be revolutionary for the right flank of Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Perez believes Real Madrid’s priority next summer must be the addition of a right-back due to the waning powers of long-serving right-back Dani Carvajal. The veteran defender is a Real Madrid legend and has been a critical part of their European and domestic success in the past decade. Despite Carvajal starting off the season well, there are doubts about whether he can maintain this consistency for much longer.

Recurring injuries and a decline in form have made him less reliable in recent times, and the club needs a succession plan. And Perez already has the ideal right-back for the future on his mind — none other than long-term target Reece James, who has been on the club’s radar all summer, but an approach that has been difficult by Chelsea’s exorbitant asking price and Real Madrid’s budget restrictions.

Widely regarded as one of the best-attacking full-backs in the modern game, the Englishman has had rotten luck with injuries in recent times and is currently out with a thigh injury, having played only once this campaign.

To ward off interest, the Blues tied him down to a new six-year deal until 2028 in September last year. And new boss Mauricio Pochettino even made him the club captain following Cesar Azpilicueta’s departure. However, that has not deterred interest from Los Blancos, who continue to keep tabs on the Englishman.

What’s more, the Madrid hierarchy have received further encouragement from the player’s entourage to launch a potential swoop in 2024. James has apparently made it clear that if he decides to leave Chelsea, it will only be to play for Madrid. Despite strong outside interest, he does not want to play for any other Premier League side or, for that matter, any other country.

If James does not play 50 plus games for us this season then i would suggest we sell next summer. As good as he is he is of no value sitting in Drs surgery
