Chelsea are keen on acquiring the services of 22-year-old Ajax sensation Mohammed Kudus and already have a verbal agreement with the player.

According to Rudy Galetti, Chelsea have verbally agreed personal terms with Mohammed Kudus ahead of a potential transfer. The Blues are looking to add more firepower to their ranks and have identified the 22-year-old utility man as a potential target. The youngster also features on Arsenal’s radar.

Kudus joined Ajax back in the summer of 2020. He has since gone from strength to strength making a total of 84 appearances and contributing towards 34 goals. The 22-year-old has featured in numerous positions throughout his time at the Dutch club and has been equally effective irrespective of the role he has had.

Last season, the Ghana international featured in a more attacking role. He was used as an attacking midfielder, a striker as well as on the right wing. Kudus featured in a total of 42 matches and was on the pitch for just under 2,700 minutes.

He ended up contributing towards 25 goals, finding the back of the net on 18 occasions while also bagged seven assists. On the back of a heroic season, there is a lot of interest in his services.

While his contract with the Dutch club runs until the summer of 2025, there is a real possibility of him parting ways with the club in the ongoing transfer window. Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in his services. The Gunners are looking to bolster their squad further to ensure they are competitive in both the UEFA Champions League as well as the Premier League.

Their manager Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the 22-year-old and wants him at the club because he believes Kudus’s versatility could do wonders for them. However, the Gunners are a touch behind Chelsea in the race for his signatures. The Blues were in contact with the player and his representatives of late. And, Chelsea have already secured a verbal agreement on personal terms.

They have already established contacts with Ajax as they look to complete the deal in the coming days with the 2023/24 season fast approaching. Chelsea struggled in front of goal last season and want to ensure they do a much better job in the final third this season. Kudus’s arrival will surely add goals to their ranks. As a result, it will be interesting to see if they can strike a deal with the Dutch club.
