Bernardo Silva, whose price tag is £75 million, will not leave Manchester City this summer, handing a blow to Barcelona’s prospects.

According to a report by 90min, Bernardo Silva is the subject of interest from Barcelona. But the Catalan giants are facing defeat in the race to sign the Portuguese international, whose price tag is £75 million. And Manchester City will not part ways with the treble winner in the ongoing transfer window.

Bernardo Silva has reached the peak of his powers after becoming a pivotal figure for Manchester City. Midway through his stint with the treble winners, the 28-year-old had become a rotation option for Pep Guardiola. But after expressing his desire to leave Manchester City two years ago, his stock has skyrocketed.

The Portuguese international has made over 300 appearances for Manchester City, chipping in with 55 goals and 59 assists. But Silva’s Manchester City future has been uncertain for some time, as he wants to embark on a new adventure. And the situation captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona.

Silva has been on Barcelona’s radar for a long time. And the Catalan giants have previously attempted to sign the player in the last two summer transfer windows. But Barcelona’s never-ending financial distress has stopped them from launching the offensive for him. Nonetheless, they remain keen on securing his services this year.

In addition, Manchester City’s reluctance to part ways with Silva has spoilt matters for Barcelona. While Pep Guardiola has suggested that any player who wants to leave is free to depart, the decision-makers at Manchester City have had other ideas. And the Premier League champions remain uninterested in selling the 28-year-old.

The report mentions a price tag of £75 million. But Barcelona would not have been able to afford to pay £75 million to secure Silva’s services anyway. And Manchester City’s decision not to sell the Portuguese international has poured cold water on Barcelona’s dreams and aspirations.

Meanwhile, Silva’s other big-name suitor, Paris Saint-Germain, should be in a position to pay £75 million to sign him. But with Manchester City unwilling to part ways with the 28-year-old, a summer move will not see the light of day.
