Barcelona are not giving up on signing Bernardo Silva, as they will make another attempt to sign the Manchester City star.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona will keep trying to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City. They might make another attempt in the summer window as Xavi Hernandez believes the 28-year-old Premier League winner will drastically improve the current squad.

Bernardo Silva was a key target for Barcelona last summer, and they might have secured the 28-year-old Premier League winner had they made an earlier offer. Their interest grew late in that window, at which stage Manchester City did not want to lose the player.

The Portuguese midfielder was reportedly open to a switch and dreamt of playing for the Catalan giants. Manchester City have always maintained their position to allow players to leave for reasonable offers. They showed that last summer with the sales of Raheem Sterling, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus.

They will continue maintaining the stance in Silva’s case if he wishes to leave. The report claims Silva would like a new challenge despite playing in one of the strongest teams in Europe. Barcelona have remained in contact with the player. But Manchester City’s asking price will be considered a problem in concluding any deal.

Manchester City reportedly rebuffed an informal approach from the Catalans at the end of January. Pep Guardiola considers Silva one of his most important players and would not have allowed his departure midway through the season.

Barcelona are now expected to make another attempt at the end of the season. Xavi Hernandez remains desperate for the Catalans to seal the deal for the 28-year-old Premier League winner. Then again, considering the financial mess the Spanish side are in, paying Manchester City’s reported €80 million asking price will prove impossible.

Moreover, PSG are also interested in Silva, who have the financial capabilities to secure the move. The Parisians could become a big problem for Barcelona in their pursuit of the Portuguese international, especially if the midfielder’s primary objective is to leave Manchester City.

The summer window will reveal more about this story and whether Barcelona are in a position to pull off the signing. For now, Silva will remain focused on Manchester City’s efforts to fight Arsenal for the Premier League title and try to win the Champions League.
