Chelsea, Manchester United abandon pursuit of Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain recently, with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid linked.

According to Le Parisien via Madrid Xtra, Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe. But both bigwigs have now decided to pull out of the race to sign the Frenchman, a target for Real Madrid.

Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid as well, and it will be interesting to see if the Spanish giants are willing to provide him with an exit route this summer. Initially, the 24-year-old was expected to continue at Paris Saint-Germain until the end of his contract.

His current deal with the French club expires next summer. So PSG are unwilling to let him leave on a free transfer. They have put him up for sale, and the player could move on before the summer transfer window closes.

Mbappe is one of the best players in the world, and he scored 41 goals across all competitions last season. Someone like him could improve any team in world football, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

He has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for months now. Before he signed the new contract with PSG, there were rumours that he has an agreement to join Real Madrid. However, the move did not materialise and the Spanish giants could return for him this summer.

Real Madrid need to bring in attacking reinforcements after the departure of Karim Benzema, and the French international could prove to be the ideal replacement for his compatriot. Mbappe will want to compete at the highest level and join a club where he can win major trophies on a consistent basis.

Real Madrid are undoubtedly the biggest club in the world, and they have a proven track record of challenging and winning major trophies consistently. Mbappe will fancy his chances of winning the Champions League with them. It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid can come forward with an acceptable bid for the player. But Chelsea and Manchester United will not pursue him.

The Premier League heavyweights would usually have the funds to sign the Frenchman. But with Financial Fair Play issues looming, it makes sense for Chelsea and Manchester United to rule out a summer move for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that PSG have already received a world record €300 million bid for their star forward from Al Hilal. It remains to be seen whether Mbappé is prepared to leave a top European league and move to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career.
