Real Madrid will reportedly have the chance to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer, with PSG putting him up for sale.

According to a report by 90min, Paris Saint-Germain will look to part ways with Kylian Mbappe in the ongoing transfer window. The Ligue 1 champions want to recoup €200 million from the French international’s sale this summer. But Real Madrid will not shell out the asking price to secure his services.

Kylian Mbappe is arguably the best player in the world right now. The 24-year-old has been on a constantly upward trajectory since breaking out as a professional footballer with AS Monaco over half a dozen years ago. And his stock has skyrocketed since joining Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017.

The French international has won almost every trophy he has contested for with his club and country. And he nearly helped France win a second successive World Cup in Qatar last year. But the UEFA Champions League has eluded him and PSG for several seasons. And the failure to win Europe’s premier competition has left him frustrated while giving rise to links with Real Madrid.

The Merengues hold a long-standing interest in the Frenchman, having tailed him since his days at AS Monaco. But a move has never materialised for various reasons, with PSG succeeding in keeping him at Parc des Princes. Meanwhile, Mbappe was sensational in the 2022/23 season, amassing 41 goals and ten assists in 43 appearances.

But Mbappe’s PSG future is non-existent after he revealed he would not sign a new contract with Les Parisiens. Since then, widespread reports have heavily linked the 24-year-old with Real Madrid. And the Ligue 1 champions are keen on cashing in on him this summer instead of losing him for free next year.

However, the French international has quashed suggestions that will join Real Madrid this summer. The player has been adamant that he wants to honour his contract with PSG. But Les Parisiens have put him up for sale and will demand €200 million to part ways with him. However, Real Madrid will not meet PSG’s valuation.

It does not make sense to pay €200 million to secure Mbappe’s services this summer when he is ready to leave PSG for free next year. And reports have pointed to an agreement for the 2024 summer transfer window. But with PSG leaving the player out of the squad for the pre-season tour to Japan, his prospects at Parc des Princes look bleak.
