Manchester United have asked for information about 22-year-old American midfielder Taylor Booth as they look for midfield reinforcements.

According to a report by ESPN, Taylor Booth is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils view the 22-year-old as an alternative to Mason Mount, whose deal has stalled. And they have already submitted an enquiry to sign the FC Utrecht midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Taylor Booth has risen to prominence since joining FC Utrecht from Bayern Munich last summer. The young American completed a Bosman move to the Dutch club and enjoyed a solid 2022/23 campaign. And he has established a foothold in his national team, making his debut earlier this year.

As for his stint with FC Utrecht, the 22-year-old turned out 31 times across all competitions while chipping in with two goals and four assists. Meanwhile, Booth’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with several clubs setting their sights on him. And Manchester United might be one of his possible destinations.

The youngster has been on Manchester United’s radar for a long time. And the interest in the player is hardly surprising, considering the Red Devils are in the market for a midfielder this summer. Manchester United’s primary target is Mason Mount, with the club making a concerted effort to sign him.

But they are ready to walk away from the deal to sign the Chelsea playmaker if the Blues do not bring down their asking price. So the Premier League heavyweights have compiled a shortlist of alternatives for the English international. These include Moises Caicedo, Mohammed Kudus, and Booth.

The report claims the Red Devils have already submitted enquiries for Caicedo, Kudus, and Booth. And the 22-year-old American midfielder is likely a contingency option if moves for Mount and Caicedo do not materialise. But after showing promise in his debut season with FC Utrecht, he is a viable target for Manchester United.

Manchester United might lose Fred and Scott McTominay in the summer transfer window. So it behoves them to invest in at least one midfielder ahead of the 2023/24 season. And it will be interesting to see who they will land to reinforce the midfield department.
