Manchester United have made a third offer for Mason Mount worth £55 million as there’s optimism about signing the 24-year-old Chelsea star.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Manchester United submitted a third, improved offer for Mason Mount. The latest bid amounted to £50 million plus £5 million in add-ons, well short of Chelsea’s counter-proposal worth £67 million all-inclusive.
Manchester United will hope to find a fitting conclusion to the Mason Mount saga as they inch closer to signing the 24-year-old Chelsea star. The road for the Red Devils has not been smooth, with the two clubs failing to agree on a set valuation.
Manchester United have seen two bids rejected for Mount in a week. Their second offer amounted to £50 million, including add-ons, which Chelsea turned down. According to David Ornstein, the Blues demanded £60 million plus £7 million in add-ons.
In the meantime, Chelsea were also made aware of Mount’s intention. The 24-year-old star was open to seeing out his contract at the club and moving on a free transfer in 2024. That’s not favourable for the Blues, who remain keen to raise considerable funds to balance their books.

They have already agreed to several deals with Saudi Arabia for their deadwood stars. Chelsea also sold Kai Havertz to Arsenal and Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City. They hope to get a considerable sum for Mount from Manchester United, but they may agree to less.
