Barcelona will not sign beleaguered Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, but Arsenal might consider re-signing him.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will not pursue Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer transfer window. The Gabonese striker faces an uncertain future at Chelsea. And Arsenal might consider re-signing the beleaguered attacker in the coming weeks.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has seen his stock plummet in the last couple of years. The 33-year-old once claimed the Premier League Golden Boot before falling from grace. He was also the Arsenal captain less than two years ago before Mikel Arteta banished him from the first-team picture.

Barcelona secure Aubameyang’s services when his Arsenal stint ended nearly 18 months ago. But the veteran striker’s Barcelona spell culminated in six months, as he joined Chelsea last summer. However, the player’s Chelsea career has been disastrous, as he managed only three goals and one assist in 21 appearances.

But Aubameyang’s stint with Chelsea will end after just one season, as he is surplus to requirements. And Barcelona considered re-signing him for several weeks, even showing interest in January. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old has also been pushing to rejoin Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Despite departing from Spotify Camp Nou after just six months, the Gabbonese attacker has fond memories from his time with Barcelona. And even though he will play second fiddle to Robert Lewandowski, he has no qualms about being a backup option. But Barcelona will not launch the offensive for him in the summer transfer window.

The report mentions several other suiters, one of them surprisingly being Arsenal. The claims by Mundo Deportivo make no sense, considering Mikel Arteta sanctioned his departure as a free agent less than two years ago following a few run-ins between the pair. Instead, a move to Saudi Arabia is more feasible for Aubameyang.

Aubameyang’s future at Chelsea is non-existent. But with Barcelona ruling out re-signing him and the Arsenal rumours making no sense, the 33-year-old is in limbo. It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the veteran striker as he looks to resurrect his stuttering career.
