Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

According to a report from GiveMeSport, the experienced forward will definitely leave Chelsea this summer and he has been linked with a return to Barcelona.

Ben jacobs said to GMS: “Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will definitely leave and would love to return to Barcelona.

“There’s a lot of moving parts to anything that Barcelona do, so we’ll have to wait and see on that one, but he will definitely leave Chelsea.”

Chelsea signed the player for a fee of around £10 million back in September from the Spanish club but the move has not worked out for either party. Aubameyang has struggled to hit top form at Stamford Bridge and he has fallen down the pecking order at the London club.

Chelsea eventually left him out of their Champions League squad as well and the player is desperate to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge. A return to Barcelona could be ideal for all parties and it remains to be seen whether the Spanish giants are willing to sign him.

Barcelona need to add more quality and depth to their attack and the experienced striker could prove to be a quality short-term option.

Aubameyang has played for Barcelona in the past and he knows the club well. He could make an immediate impact at Camp Nou. The Chelsea striker is expected to be a backup option to Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona have had an impressive domestic campaign this year and they have won the Spanish league. However, they were quite underwhelming in the European competitions and they need a deeper and better squad to do well in the Champions League next year.

Signing experienced players like Aubameyang could prove to be a wise decision. In addition to that, Barcelona are going through financial difficulties and they are unlikely to be able to spend huge sums of money on players this summer. They should look to aim for bargains and free agents if possible and Aubameyang would be an economical addition.

Barcelona are unlikely to pay the £10m they received from Chelsea for the player and it remains to be seen whether the Blues are ready to take a hit on their investment.

Given the fact that the player has no future at Stamford Bridge and he is on massive wages (£160k-a-week), Chelsea should look to cut their losses on him and let him leave for a nominal price this summer.

Meanwhile, the Blues have Armando Broja as their only striker apart from Aubameyang and it will be interesting to see if they can bring in necessary reinforcements at the end of the season.
