Chelsea misfit Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly pushing to join Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is pushing to rejoin Barcelona in the coming months. And the Gabonese striker wants to leave Chelsea as a free agent in the summer transfer window. That is because the Catalan giants are in a spot of bother on the financial front.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been a shell of the dominant striker he was in his prime. During those years, the 33-year-old finished as the top scorer in the Bundesliga and the Premier League. But his stock has fallen considerably in the last two years.

That said, he would have hoped to have resurrected his career after he scored the joint-most goals for Barcelona last term despite only representing them in the second half of the campaign. But Aubameyang’s stint with Barcelona ended in the summer after they signed Robert Lewandowski. And he returned to England to join Chelsea on the deadline day.

But the former Arsenal captain has failed to make his mark this term. And he has managed only three goals and one assist in 21 appearances for Chelsea thus far. Meanwhile, with Aubameyang’s Chelsea stint heading nowhere, he wants to return to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Recent reports have also claimed that the 33-year-old is ready to take a pay cut to rejoin Barcelona. But the Catalan club’s financial issues will deter them from launching the offensive to land the Chelsea misfit. And they can only re-sign the veteran striker if the Blues are ready to let him leave for free.

But that is a problem for both Barcelona and Aubameyang, as Chelsea will not release the Gabonese striker. However, the former Arsenal captain is pushing to leave the West London club as a free agent in the summer transfer window. And it will be interesting to see if the Blues are ready to heed his request.

Recent reports have claimed that Chelsea might have to release the 33-year-old after spending heavily in the last two transfer windows. And it will be interesting to see if the stars align perfectly for Aubameyang and Barcelona.
