Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a summer move away from Chelsea, with Barcelona interested in re-signing him.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Chelsea at the start of the season. But he has been quite underwhelming this season, scoring just three goals across all competitions. A report from Daily Telegraph claims that Chelsea are prepared to cash in on the player this summer. But they could be forced to let him leave on a free transfer.

The veteran striker has been linked with a return to Barcelona. But the Catalan giants are unlikely to pay a fee for him. Chelsea signed the player for £12 million, and it seems that they will have to cut their losses on him this summer. Aubameyang will be hoping to get his career back on track with regular football at Barcelona next season.

The former Arsenal striker dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge after an underwhelming start to his Chelsea career. He was left out of the Champions League squad as well. It is evident that he is unwanted at the club. So Chelsea must look to offload him and get his massive wages off their books.

The Blues have struggled to score goals this season, and Aubameyang was expected to hit the ground running after impressing for Arsenal in the past. The Gabonese striker was one of the best strikers in the Premier League during his time at the North London club. A move this summer would be ideal for all parties.

Chelsea need to bring an attacking reinforcements at the end of the season, and they have been linked with players like Victor Osimhen in recent weeks. The Napoli striker has been in splendid form, and he could prove to be a major upgrade on someone like Aubameyang.

The 33-year-old has a contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2024, and the Blues would have ideally liked to recoup the £12 million they paid for him. However, none of his suitors have indicated that they are willing to pay up for him in the summer, more so Barcelona.

He is clearly not the player he used to be and he is on the decline. Clubs will look to sign him up on a bargain this summer. So it seems highly unlikely that Chelsea will be able to recoup some money from his transfer, which works well for Barcelona.
