Barcelona will soon accelerate the negotiations to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Diario SPORT, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains keen on rejoining Barcelona. And the Catalan giants are ready to step up their efforts to re-sign the cultured Chelsea star. Meanwhile, the veteran striker is willing to take a pay cut to seal the return to Camp Nou.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has endured a dramatic fall from grace in the last few years. This time in 2021, he was on top of the world as the Arsenal captain while also having won the Premier League Golden Boot. But run-ins with Mikel Arteta ended his stint with the Gunners before he joined Barcelona last year.

The 33-year-old enjoyed a superb second half of the 2021/22 season, ending the campaign as Barcelona’s joint-top scorer. But unfortunate circumstances spelt the end of Aubameyang’s Barcelona spell, as he fell down the pecking order after Robert Lewandowski’s arrival. So he joined Chelsea last summer to reunite with Thomas Tuchel.

But the Gabonese striker has endured a horrendous 2022/23 campaign thus far. And he has garnered just over 900 minutes of game time while scoring three goals and providing one assist. With Aubameyang’s stock plummeting, he will likely leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window. And Barcelona will look to re-sign the cultured striker ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Barcelona attempted to re-sign Aubameyang in the January transfer window, only for FIFA rules to scupper the deal. But the Catalan giants remain keen on bringing the Chelsea attacker back to Camp Nou. And recent reports have claimed that the 33-year-old is the priority target for Barcelona.

While the Blaugrana will prefer to sign Vitor Roque, they do not have the means to afford the Brazilian prodigy. So it is hardly surprising that Aubameyang’s name has risen to the summit of Barcelona’s wishlist. But Barcelona will only re-sign the cultured Chelsea star if the Blues terminate his contract.

The Catalan giants are now ready to accelerate the negotiations to secure Aubameyang’s services. In addition, the former Arsenal captain is ready to take a pay cut to return to Barcelona. But the ball remains in Chelsea’s court. And unless the Blues are willing to release the Gabonese striker, a deal might not be possible.
