Real Madrid will not shell out the asking price Chelsea will demand to part ways with Kai Havertz this summer.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will demand €60 million-plus-add-ons to part ways with Kai Havertz in the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old is a target for Real Madrid. But the Merengues are not ready to meet Chelsea’s valuation of the player.

Kai Havertz has been an underwhelming signing for Chelsea, all things considered. The German international has enjoyed a few memorable moments, including scoring the match-winner in Chelsea’s most recent UEFA Champions League triumph. But he has not been a consistent performer for the Blues despite being their top scorer in the last three years.

The 23-year-old also scored the most goals for Chelsea this past season. But a tally of nine strikes and one assist in 47 appearances leaves much to be desired. However, despite his inconsistent performances, Havertz’s stock remains high, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.

Real Madrid will delve into the market for multiple attackers heading into the summer transfer window. The Merengues have lost four attackers at the end of the 2022/23 season. Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Mariano Diaz, and Eden Hazard will officially leave Real Madrid at the turn of the month.

Asensio and Hazard’s departures will compel Real Madrid to sign a versatile attacker. Havertz has thus emerged as a viable target for Los Blancos. And the Chelsea forward is reportedly keen on joining Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Blues want over €60 million to part ways with the German international.

While the base fee will be worth €60 million, Chelsea will also look to include add-ons in the deal. But Real Madrid will not shell out such a sum to secure his services. The report claims that the Merengues are unwilling to meet Chelsea’s valuation heading into the summer transfer window.

Romano’s claims suggest the deal for Havertz’s services has not collapsed yet, contrary to recent media reports. And it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid and Chelsea can seal the deal for the 23-year-old attacker this summer.
