Kai Havertz has reportedly reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with 23-year-old Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz.

According to Felix Johnston, Kai Havertz has taken a step closer to joining Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old has verbally agreed to the personal terms on offer. And he will likely leave Chelsea to move to Real Madrid in the coming weeks.

Kai Havertz was one of the most highly-rated young prospects in the world when he joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen nearly three years ago. The German international had been a talismanic figure for Die Werkself and showed goalscoring pedigree. But while he has been the top scorer for Chelsea in the last three seasons, the goals have dried up.

The 23-year-old managed only nine goals and one assist in 47 appearances in the 2022/23 season. But that has been thanks in large part to playing out of position and Chelsea’s general struggles in the final third this term. But despite Havertz’s inconsistencies, he remains highly rated, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.

Real Madrid will sign multiple attackers in the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants are losing four players from the offensive department this year, leaving Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes as the only recognised options in the final third. In particular, Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio’s departures will leave a void in the Real Madrid attack.

While Harry Kane is the priority target to replace Benzema, Havertz has emerged as another candidate to bolster the Real Madrid attack. And recent reports have claimed that Florentino Perez is pushing for Havertz’s signature. In addition, the 23-year-old Chelsea attacker is keen on joining Real Madrid.

The latest update reveals that personal terms will not be an issue for Real Madrid. The two parties have already reached a verbal agreement, bringing them closer to sealing the deal this summer. But meeting Chelsea’s asking price will be another matter altogether.

The Merengues have the resources to matter Chelsea’s valuation of the 23-year-old. But with personal terms sorted, a summer agreement is on the cards. It will be interesting to see if Havertz completes a permanent move to Real Madrid this year.
