Florentino Perez wants Real Madrid to prioritise a summer move for 23-year-old Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid will invest heavily in the attack in the summer transfer window. And Florentino Perez is prioritising a move for Kai Havertz. Meanwhile, Chelsea will be open to cashing in on the 23-year-old attacker.

Kai Havertz joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in a big-money move nearly three years ago amid much fanfare. But the German international has not done much to justify the hype surrounding him. While he has been Chelsea’s top scorer in the last three seasons, his performances have left a lot to be desired.

The 23-year-old was Chelsea’s top scorer again in the 2022/23 season. But a tally of nine goals and one assist in 47 appearances across all competitions is horrendous. And Havertz’s long-term Chelsea future is uncertain, with several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, keen on signing him.

Real Madrid will invest heavily in the offensive unit in the summer transfer window. That is because Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes are the only recognised attackers in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. And, in particular, the departures of Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio have left Real Madrid in a spot of bother.

Havertz is a candidate to replace Asensio, with Real Madrid viewing him as an alternative to Rodrygo. And the Chelsea attacker is reportedly keen on joining Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Florentino Perez is prioritising a deal for the German international.

The report claims that Real Madrid’s president is pushing Real Madrid to complete a deal for the 23-year-old. And the Merengues have established contact to hash out an agreement for the former Bayer Leverkusen talisman. Meanwhile, Chelsea will not oppose a transfer if they receive the required sum for Havertz’s services.

For now, Perez is prioritising a summer move for the 23-year-old heading into the summer transfer window. With all the parties leaning towards an agreement, a summer transfer might see the light of day.
