Real Madrid have reportedly been linked with a summer move for 23-year-old Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz.

Kai Havertz been quite underwhelming at Chelsea. But Real Madrid are now prepared to provide him with an exit route. German journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed that the Spanish outfit have been in touch with the 23-year-old regarding a summer transfer.

The report further claims that the German international is unlikely to sign a new contract with Chelsea which expires in 2025 and the Blues could look to cash in on him for a fee of around €50-60 million. It is fair to assume that Real Madrid have the financial resources to pay that kind of money for the attacker.

Havertz has been quite poor for Chelsea this season, struggling to score goals consistently. The Blues need to bring in a reliable finisher this summer, and he could find himself down the pecking order soon. It makes sense for the German international to move on and attempt to resurrect his career at another club. The opportunity to join Real Madrid can be a tempting proposition.

Havertz was regarded as one of the best young talents in world football during his time in Germany, and he has the ability to develop into a world-class player. He is still quite young, and there is plenty of time for him to continue his development and fulfil his world-class potential.

Real Madrid are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, especially with players like Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema leaving the club this summer. While Havertz is not a reliable goalscorer, he remains an elite creator with immense tactical intelligence.

He will add a new dimension to the Real Madrid attack and he should be able to combine with the likes of Vinicius Junior well. If the German international can add more goals to his game, he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Real Madrid in the coming seasons. And Los Blancos have initiated contact over a possible deal.

Meanwhile, the transfer has clearly not worked out for Chelsea. So it makes sense for them to cut their losses on the player and invest the money into another signing. But it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid will pay €50-60 million to land him.
