Chelsea are ready to sell Ruben Loftus-Cheek for a sizeable offer in the summer, as the midfielder is not part of the club’s long-term plans.

According to Football Insider, Ruben Loftus-Cheek does not belong in Chelsea’s long-term plans. The club are considering cashing in on the 27-year-old midfielder in the summer as they line up further signings to bolster their midfield.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was considered one of the brightest prospects in English football when he broke into the Chelsea first-team squad. Despite making his Premier League debut with the Blues in 2015, the 27-year-old midfielder could never cement a permanent place in the side.

Yet, with many managers taking charge of the club between 2015 and now, some have preferred to keep him while others sent him out on temporary deals. Loftus-Cheek has never shown the inclination to play anywhere else and wanted to make a mark at Stamford Bridge.

Unfortunately, time may have run out for the 27-year-old midfielder, as Chelsea are considering selling him in the summer. The club may not consider him in their long-term planning and may profit from cashing in now than waiting for his contract to expire.

The 27-year-old midfielder will have a year left on his deal in the summer, but Chelsea can extend it by another season. The Blues are unlikely to exercise the clause but could use it as leverage when extracting decent fees from interested clubs.

Chelsea are considering selling academy stars and regular players to balance the books after a considerable outlay in the last two windows. Loftus-Cheek has plenty of interest from Premier League sides and could make a move within England.

Additionally, there are Italian clubs AC Milan and AS Roma, reportedly keen to sign him next summer. However, the 27-year-old midfielder may prefer to remain in England and continue his career here. A firm decision could come in the summer, but until then, he will remain an essential part of the team.

Chelsea are already planning more outlays in the market and could target high-profile midfielders next. Frenkie de Jong and Manu Kone are among those the club remains keen on, but they must raise funds to bankroll such moves.

As for Loftus-Cheek, his time at the club may end. The 27-year-old midfielder has made 150 Premier League appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit, and this season could be his last in blue.
