Manchester United offered chance to sign Yannick Carrasco

Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign the Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco, a target for Barcelona.

According to a report from Jason Burt of the Daily Telegraph, Manchester United are looking to bring in midfield reinforcements after the long-term injury to Christian Eriksen. And they have been offered the chance to sign Belgian international Yannick Carrasco.

The player has been linked with a move to Barcelona as well. The Blaugrana have a non-mandatory option to sign the Belgian international for €20 million. And it will be interesting to see if Manchester United can swoop in and secure his services.

But signing Carrasco as an alternative to the injured Christian Eriksen would be quite surprising because the Belgian is a different player to that of the Denmark international. Carrasco is a winger who can also operate as a wing-back. Whereas, Eriksen is a central attacking midfielder.

It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils decide to pursue him and secure his services before tonight’s transfer deadline. Apparently Manchester United are desperate to bring in midfield reinforcements today. And they have been in contact with clubs like Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Belgian international could prove to be a useful squad player for Manchester United if they manage to secure his services this month. His versatility will be an added bonus for the Red Devils.

Manchester United could definitely use more depth in the wide areas. And the Atletico Madrid winger seems like an ideal short-term addition. Carrasco will add pace, flair, and work rate to Erik ten Hag’s attack and he is likely to be an inexpensive addition as well.

The Belgian international has four goals and two assists across all competitions this season, and he has started just ten league games for Atletico Madrid so far. He will be hoping to play more often during the second half of the campaign, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United can provide him with the platform he needs.

Carrasco has the experience to adapt to English football quickly and make an immediate impact in the Premier League. Eriksen has been a key player for ten Hag this season, and the Red Devils must do everything in their power to fill his void. But Carrasco is likelier to join Barcelona in the summer than Manchester United this month.
