Premier League table-toppers Arsenal are reportedly on the cusp of signing Jorginho from Chelsea on the deadline day.

According to reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Jorginho is closing in on ending his stint with Chelsea. The Italian international is on the cusp of joining Arsenal, with the Blues ready to part ways with him. Meanwhile, Conor Gallagher is not going anywhere amid interest from Everton.

Jorginho has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since joining Chelsea. The 31-year-old followed Maurizio Sarri to Stamford Bridge but endured teething issues at the west London club. But he has slowly grown in stature, becoming the Chelsea vice-captain under Frank Lampard.

The Italian international has turned out over 200 times for Chelsea, chipping in with 29 goals and nine assists. But Jorginho’s stock has fallen under the tutelage of Graham Potter. And the player’s stint with Chelsea might end ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline, with Arsenal pushing to sign him.

Speculation surrounding Arsenal and Jorginho emerged late on Monday. And the Gunners seem to have moved quickly to potentially seal the deal for the Chelsea midfield general. While Florian Plettenberg has not mentioned a transfer fee, he has claimed that Arsenal might complete his signing soon.

Jorginho’s long-term Chelsea future has been up in the air. And recent reports claimed that he would leave the west London club as a free agent in the summer. But the experienced midfield general might end his stint with Chelsea earlier than expected amid Arsenal’s eagerness to sign him.

Reports on Monday suggested Everton had submitted an offer to Chelsea for Conor Gallagher. But the English international does not want to join the Toffees. And the Blues do not want to sell the youngster either. Instead, Chelsea will prefer to part ways with Jorginho, who might soon join Arsenal.

The Gunners have been keen on signing Moises Caicedo. And while they consider submitting a club-record bid for the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, they might bolster their midfield first with Jorginho. So it will be interesting to see if Arsenal will bring in two midfielders ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
