Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is reportedly expected to leave the west London club at the end of the season.

According to a report from The Athletic, Jorginho is expected to leave Chelsea when his contract expires in the summer. The 30-year-old Italian international is in the final six months of his contract and has not agreed to an extension with the Blues so far.

Jorginho has been a key player for Chelsea since joining the club from Napoli. And his departure as a free agent will certainly come as a blow to the Premier League giants. However, the report from The Athletic claims that Chelsea are looking to rebuild their midfield and are eyeing up a move for the West Ham United star Declan Rice.

The England international is one of the best defensive midfielders in the league and he should prove to be a quality long-term addition for Chelsea. The report adds that Chelsea are the front-runners to sign Rice ahead of their Premier League rivals.

Rice was released from the Chelsea academy when he was a teenager and will feel that he has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge. He is being earmarked as the long-term replacement for the Italian international. And it remains to be seen whether Chelsea can agree on a fee with the Hammers.

Meanwhile, Jorginho has been linked with the return to Italy. The player has been emerged on the radar of Barcelona as well. The Catalan giants are set to lose Sergio Busquets at the end of the season, and the 30-year-old Chelsea midfielder is being tipped to replace the Spanish international.

Jorginho has proven himself in the Premier League and has helped Chelsea win major trophies. There is no doubt that he is good enough to play for a club like Barcelona. And signing the Chelsea midfield general on a free transfer could prove to be a masterstroke from the Spanish giants.

Barcelona are going through financial constraints and signing a player of his quality on a free transfer would be ideal for them. Meanwhile, the Italian international is not the only midfielder who could leave Chelsea in the summer. French midfielder N’Golo Kante is nearing the end of his contract as well and could move on as a free agent.
