Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is reportedly expected to leave the wests London club as a free agent next summer.

N’Golo Kante is nearing the end of his contract at the end of the season, and Chelsea have not been able to agree on an extension with him yet. And reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the 31-year-old defensive midfielder is edging closer to an exit this summer.

The French international midfielder has been a key player for Chelsea since arriving from Leicester City, and he has helped them win major trophies like the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. Losing a player of his quality and experience as a free agent will be a major blow for the Blues. But they have struggled to secure an agreement with the player so far.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the midfielder wants to continue at Stamford Bridge. So it will be interesting to see if the two parties can come to an agreement soon. Kante will be able to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs when the January transfer window opens, and Chelsea must look to act swiftly and secure his future.

Despite his recent injury problems, Kante remains a key player for Chelsea, and he could be an asset for Graham Potter in the upcoming seasons. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation.

Chelsea might also lose Italian international Jorginho once his contract expires in the summer. Losing two of their key players in one window, especially as free agents, would be a devastating blow for any side.

So Chelsea will need to bring in more than one midfield reinforcement if that happens. Recent reports have linked the west Londoners with Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, and a few other midfielders.

Meanwhile, Kante has been linked with a number of European giants in recent weeks,. And it will be interesting to see how the situation develops. The Chelsea midfielder is currently in his twilight years, but he has a few years left at the top level and could be a quality acquisition for any club on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old is unlikely to have any shortage of suitors if he becomes available for free at the end of this season. Kante has not been able to showcase his quality consistently this season because of persistent injury problems. But he will be hoping to get over them and get back to his best soon.
