Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is reportedly keen on staying at Stamford Bridge beyond his current contract.

According to a report from Le 10 Sport, N’Golo Kante is willing to sign a contract extension with Chelsea. The French midfielder does not want to depart from Stamford Bridge anytime soon.

Kante has been a key player for Chelsea over the years, and he will be out of contract at the end of the season. However, he is currently in discussions with the west London club regarding a contract extension. And it will be interesting to see whether the two parties can come to an agreement in the coming weeks.

The 31-year-old has helped Chelsea win multiple trophies and might still be pivotal for them in the coming seasons. Even though he has been suffering from persistent injury problems, the French international remains a world-class player in his position.

Kante might not be someone who can make a difference for Chelsea on a weekly basis going forward. But he will be a vital part of the dressing room with his winning experience and leadership qualities.

The report further claims that despite the rumours in the media, Kante has never wanted to leave Chelsea and is prepared to commit his long-term future to the club. However, the Blues are still discussing the contract length with the player as they do not want to offer him a long-term deal at this stage of his career.

Apparently, the Frenchman is seeking reassurance regarding his long-term future and wants a contract for three-four years. It is no surprise that Kante is looking for a long-term deal as this will likely be the last major pay-cheque of his career.

As for Chelsea, it is normal to worry about the player’s regression and decline in fitness in the coming seasons. The west Londoners are better off offering him a short-term deal.

The 31-year-old was recently linked with clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. However, it seems that joining Chelsea’s London rivals is simply out of the question for the French international midfielder, who wants to remain at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future.
