Everton are ready to spend £45 million for Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher as they look to avoid relegation.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton have submitted a £40 million bid to Chelsea with an additional £5 million in potential add-ons for Conor Gallagher. Relegation-threatened Everton are looking to secure the services of the 22-year-old midfielder ahead of the transfer deadline.

The young midfielder has caught the attention of multiple clubs, making his future a hot topic in the transfer market. Other clubs have also expressed their interest in signing Gallagher. And, even he will have a say in where his future lies.

The bid from Everton is substantial, showcasing their commitment to acquiring Gallagher’s services. According to reports, he does not want to leave Stamford Bridge but might be shown the exit door as Chelsea push to land Enzo Fernandez. Letting go of the midfielder might make things easier for the Blues.

Sean Dyche has recently taken over from Frank Lampard as the Everton manager. And, he would love to strengthen his squad before he starts the rescue mission. Having Gallagher at his disposal will surely help the cause as the young midfielder can be used in a holding role as well as an attacking midfielder.

The Merseyside club recently sold Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United for a £40 million fee. Everton do have the purse to spend, and Dyche has identified a few potential signings to improve his squad. They are looking to bring in Viktor Gyokeres and Che Adams alongside Conor before the window shuts.

The Toffees are currently 19th in the Premier League and it will be interesting to see if Gallagher decides to leave his childhood club for a team that might not be in the English top flight next season. The 22-year-old midfielder has made 25 appearances this season, 18 of which have come in the EPL.

Gallagher’s arrival at Goodison Park will surely bolster their midfield. But, whether the player accepts a move to the Toffees is something only time will tell. With multiple clubs ready to sign the Englishman, it will be interesting to where he ends up after the deadline day. As per Craig Hope from Daily Mail, the player is not too keen on a move to Everton and would prefer to join a top-six club like Newcastle instead.
