Everton’s crisis has deepened after a twist with one of their primary transfer targets in this window. Arnaut Danjuma remained on the cusp of joining the Toffees, but Tottenham have hijacked their move for the 25-year-old attacker.
Danjuma was on the verge of joining Everton after a dry loan with Villarreal got agreed upon a few days back. The 25-year-old attacker was also reportedly encouraged to take up the challenge that awaits him at Merseyside. The Toffees are gearing up for a tough relegation battle.
Danjuma had reportedly completed a medical with Everton, and before he could sign the documents, Tottenham swooped in. In a sensational twist, Spurs have now agreed on a deal for the 25-year-old attacker, who has since had a second medical and successfully passed it.

The deal will remain the same, and Spurs will not have a buy option in the contract. The idea of watching a key target coming close to signing and then signing with a rival will hurt Everton. As for Tottenham, they were already offered Danjuma earlier, along with other clubs.
Antonio Conte may have wanted a new attacking option to bolster his option and probably get another dimension in games. With Danjuma, they have someone who knows English football decently and could prove a valuable asset in their bid to finish in the top four.
Spurs may have wanted Leandro Trossard before, but since he joined Arsenal. They might have switched their attention towards alternatives. Danjuma is a risk-free option, although if he is to perform well, Spurs might look to sign him permanently in the summer.
One look at their team this season, and it is clear where Conte wants a forward in the window. Son Heung-min is barely contributing, as is Richarlison, who is yet to score his first league goal since his £60 million transfer from Everton.
While Tottenham are well covered in Danjuma’s preferred centre-forward position. Conte might see a place for him on the left-hand side. He could inject a new sense of energy into the team, who are slowly returning to churning results, as a top four place beckons the north Londoners.
