Crystal Palace are interested in Sasa Lukic and have been in contact for the midfielder, as Patrick Vieira is keen on reinforcements.

According to Tuttosport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Crystal Palace are keen on Sasa Lukic, having initiated contacts with Torino for his signature. As per the report, the Italian side would be demanding at least €20 million for the midfielder, as Patrick Vieira is keen to conduct more business and strengthen his options.

Crystal Palace lost their opening game of the season, which probably showed some deficiencies in the squad. And manager Vieira is reportedly keen on a midfielder to shore up the area after the departure of Cheikhou Kouyate to Nottingham Forest.

Kouyate was the club’s anchor last season as he provided a solid base for other stars Jeffrey Schlupp and on-loan midfielder Conor Gallagher to flourish. However, the Senegal international’s departure leaves a gap in the midfield unit that Vieira would like to address, with several names being linked with a move to Selhurst Park.

Despite the arrival of Cheick Doucoure in the summer, Vieira believes the midfield area needs a new player, and Torino’s Sasa Luka has emerged as a potential target for the Eagles.

Crystal Palace have been in contact to understand the details regarding the midfielder’s transfer. Torino had reportedly demanded €20 million from other suitors Napoli. The asking price is not likely to change for Palace or any other side, with the Serie A side looking to extract the best value for the 26-year-old.

Lukic, for his part, seems open to an exit and reportedly wants a salary of €1.5 million after tax, which may not be a problem for Crystal Palace to accept. However, whether they are ready to pay the €20 million fee remains to be seen.

The 26-year-old may look optimistically at an opportunity to play in England, particularly for a progressive side like Palace. Alternatively, he is comfortable in Italy and could look to join a big club in Serie A such as Napoli. With there being interest from several other clubs as well, Palace will need to act swiftly if they wish to sign Lukic.
