Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly lining up a club-record €90 million bid to sign Inter Milan attacker Lautaro Martinez this summer.

According to Italian football journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham are ready to seriously test Inter Milan’s resolve to keep hold of Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez by lodging a mega opening bid worth €90 million.

The north London giants have been tracking the Argentine striker for several months now and are prepared to take their interest to the next level. They are likely to contact the Serie A giants next week to discuss the viability of a potential transfer and are planning to make a proposal for the Argentine international that could be worth a massive €90 million.

Antonio Conte has previously worked with Martinez during a successful two-year spell at San Siro, in which Martinez helped fire Inter Milan to the Serie A title in the 2020/21 season. The Tottenham boss is determined to challenge for major silverware next season with the Lilywhites and is believed to be ‘crazy’ about signing Martinez to further bolster his attacking ranks.

Martinez is believed to be happy at Inter Milan, where he has been since joining from Argentine club Racing in 2018. To date, he has scored 74 goals in 180 appearances for the Nerazzurri.

Last season alone, Martinez scored 25 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions. He also had four assists, with 42 per cent of his attempts on target finding the back of the net. Martinez’s excellent output is not only restricted to Serie A either, as the 24-year-old has also impressed for the Argentine national team in the last couple of seasons, netting 20 goals in just 38 appearances.

Needless to say, there is a slew of elite suitors vying for his signature all across the continent, with Chelsea, Barcelona, and Arsenal having all been heavily linked with him in the past. Inter are interested in bringing Romelu Lukaku back to the club from Chelsea and have opened negotiations over a possible loan move, while the Serie A club are also closing in on a Bosman move for Paulo Dybala.

The arrivals of the attacking duo could pave the way for multiple exits, including Denzel Dumfries, Stefan de Vrij, and Milan Skriniar, should suitable offers arrive, with Inter looking to balance their books this summer. While the Nerazzurri have no intention of selling Martinez, that stance could change if Tottenham make a massive offer for Martinez.

Spurs already have a lot of firepower with Son Heung-min hitting 23 goals and Harry Kane scoring 17 last season in the Premier League. If Conte can devise a system that works for all three attackers, with Dejan Kulusevski as a backup, Tottenham may well be en route to challenging the top guns in the English top flight.

However, Martinez and his representatives have previously stated multiple times that they have no desire to quit Inter, especially after signing a new deal in October 2021 that runs until June 2026. Martinez is also unwilling to swap clubs in a World Cup year, so there is a lot of convincing that needs to be done from Tottenham’s point of view, even if they table a €90 million bid.
