Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly open to offloading up to eight players in the upcoming summer transfer window.
As reported by London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are set for a massive overhaul in the upcoming summer transfer window. Managing director of Football Fabio Paratici has taken lessons from the club’s previous failure to offload fringe players from the squad and as such, he has doubled his efforts in his quest to ship multiple players away from the club.
Steven Bergwijn tops the list, having failed to showcase his talents in the Premier League. He has struggled with consistency, and it should not be hard for Tottenham to find a suitor, with the Dutchman being courted by Manchester United’s future head coach Erik ten Hag.
Another player involved in this list is Harry Winks. The Englishman has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte and is keen on leaving the club amid interest from Crystal Palace. Not to mention, Tottenham are on the hunt for midfield reinforcements in the summer, so it won’t be surprising at all to see Winks depart from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
There are a few more names in midfield, including Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele. The two are currently out on loan elsewhere but could be offloaded by Tottenham in the summer regardless of their performances.
Lo Celso, for one, had played a key role in helping Villarreal reach the Champions League semi-finals. But the Argentine has been deemed surplus to the requirements, as Tottenham look to bring back prodigal son Christian Eriksen in the coming summer.
There could be a massive rebuilding in the defensive unit, with up to five players likely to face the axe. The list is topped by Joe Rodon, who has no future at the club after failing to live up to his potential after joining from Swansea City.
Davinson Sanchez could be allowed to leave as well in light of the lack of consistency in defence. The same can be said for Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty and even Emerson Royal, even though Emerson had only joined Tottenham last summer.
Reguilon has become an in-demand prospect in the market, with Barcelona and Liverpool reportedly battling for his services. Tottenham should not find it difficult finding a suitor for Emerson either, although offloading Doherty could be much trickier.
Fabio Paratici believes these departures could be vital in helping Tottenham lay the foundation for a future team capable of competing for the top four spots and restore the club’s former glory after a few years of sheer mediocrity.
