Team News & Tactics

Barcelona

The hosts will be without the service of Pedri. Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo is in the final phase of his recovery from a hamstring issue and could be a part of the squad for this fixture but he is unlikely to be given a start.

Xavi will stick with the 4-3-3 formation, where Marc-Andre ter Stegen will be in goal. Summer signing Joao Cancelo will start as the right-back, while 19-year-old Alejandro Balde will continue on the left-back. Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen will be the centre-back pairing.

The defence has kept a clean sheet in their last two outings, and they will look to make it three in a row. Ilkay Gundogan, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi will be the three in the centre of the park. 16-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal will start out wide on the right while Joao Felix will continue on the left. And, Polish international Robert Lewandowski will continue as their number nine.

Rafael Benitez is expected to go ahead with the 3-4-3 formation where Ivan Villar will be in goal. The back three will consist of Unai Nunez, Carl Starfelt and Carlos Domínguez. The trio will have a tough task on their hands to stop a star-studded Barcelona attack that has scored 10 goals in their last two outings.

Oscar Mingueza and Mihailo Ristic will start out wide as the wing-backs. While the duo will look to join the attack, they will most likely have a lot of defending to do.
