Real Madrid pulled off a miraculous 2-1 away victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie at the Allianz Arena.

Much to the expectations of many, the hosts drew first blood through Arturo Vidal in the 25th minute. They had a chance to increase their lead before the break, but the Chilean skied his penalty.

Real began to take control of the game in the second half, and it was none other than Cristiano Ronaldo who opened the scoring for his side. A red card to Bayern’s Javi Martinez shortly followed, and the Portuguese star added another to give his side a 2-1 win against Bayern.

It was also one for the history books as it took his tally to 100 in the competition. He found the back of the net 16 times with Manchester United and scored another 84 with the defending champions.

His incredible feat was celebrated on Twitter:

He also earned praises from former footballers and renowned journalists of the modern day.
