Liverpool’s new Premier League campaign was off to a flying start as they thrashed West Ham United 4-0 at Anfield on Sunday.

Last season’s Golden Boot winner Mohamed Salah got off the mark for the new term, stroking home from point-blank range, before Sadio Mane made it 2-0 on the verge of half-time.

Soon after the restart, the Senegalese added his second goal of the day with a fine finish, although he should have been flagged offside. With less than five minutes left on the board, substitute Daniel Sturridge stabbed home the fourth, only 20 seconds after coming on, to add more gloss to the scoreline.

The win – Liverpool’s 500th in the Premier League, sent them to the top of the table and naturally the fans were in jubilant mood, claiming the title was coming to Anfield this season.

The likes of Salah and Mane continued where they left off last season, but new signing Naby Keita impressed heavily on his Premier League debut, with a brilliant all-round display.
