Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has urged the North London club to sign 28-year-old English international Marcus Rashford from Manchester United this summer.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Jamie O’Hara has suggested that Roberto De Zerbi is the “perfect manager” for Marcus Rashford. The report has also added that signing a left-sided attacker remains a priority for Tottenham Hotspur, with Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo a target for the North London club.
O’Hara said, “I like Savinho. What I’ve seen of him, there have been bright sparks. It hasn’t massively worked for him at Manchester City, but he’s obviously a talented player. I like Gakpo, but the problem with him is he maybe needs four or five chances to score one, but he has got something about him. I wouldn’t be disappointed in the signing – he’s a player who I wouldn’t mind.”
“I just don’t know why we don’t go for Marcus Rashford. I really think that Spurs should just go, how much do you want? How much can we get him for? I know he’s on £350,000 a week, and obviously Spurs potentially can’t afford that, but he’s such a brilliant player. If you get him at it with a point to prove, I just think he’s still one of the best players around. If he stays at Man Utd, I think he’ll play, so I just don’t know why we’ve not been interested in him.”
“I think De Zerbi is the perfect man-manager for someone like Rashford. He’s a manager who will get the best out of him. I think he’d be a good signing for us. Maybe he doesn’t want to sign for Tottenham, or maybe he may be looking elsewhere. But the left side is something we still need to address. Mathys Tel is a decent young player, but he isn’t the answer.”
The Marcus Rashford conundrum
Marcus Rashford enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign at Barcelona following his arrival from Manchester United on a season-long loan deal last summer. The Blaugrana pursued the Englishman after his exceptional performances for Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024/25 campaign, which ultimately facilitated his dream move to Catalonia.
The English winger scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists across 49 outings in all competitions, averaging a goal contribution every 93 minutes. However, despite producing impressive numbers, a permanent transfer to Barcelona will not materialise after they chose to sign Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi instead. That has opened the door for other interested parties.
Do Tottenham need Rashford?
Tottenham Hotspur can do with a productive attacker like Marcus Rashford. The Lilywhites have shown interest in the Englishman in recent weeks, and he can be the long-sought replacement for Son Heung-min after the North London club failed to fill the South Korean attacker’s void last summer.

Additionally, Richarlison faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, leading Tottenham to pursue a versatile attacker. Rashford fits the bill perfectly, as he can play as a left-sided attacker and a centre-forward. So, with Dominic Solanke struggling with persistent fitness issues, the Manchester United forward can arrive as a one-stop attacking solution. However, recent reports have suggested that an Old Trafford reintegration is on the cards for the 28-year-old academy graduate.
