Brighton boss Graham Potter has hailed ‘out-of-this-world’ Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah, as the teams meet this weekend in the Premier League.
Mohamed Salah is the talk of the town after some scintillating performances for Liverpool this season. Fresh from scoring a sensational hat-trick against Manchester United at Old Trafford, the Egyptian just has been on fire this season, scoring 15 goals and registering five assists in 12 games across competitions.
Even though he has an ongoing contractual standoff with the club, his performances remain unaffected. He will take the pitch against Brighton at the weekend, hoping to increase his goal tally and keep the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea at the top.
Brighton, meanwhile, have surprised most with a terrific start to their season. Much of the credit should go to Graham Potter for sticking to his ideals and playing an attractive, attacking style of football. However, they have tailed off a bit recently, especially last weekend when Manchester City beat them.
They now face Liverpool in what will be a daunting challenge to get a positive result. While Potter remains positive regarding the game’s outcome, the questions he got asked were related to stopping Salah in his tracks.
Potter told the official club website ahead of the game that they needed to focus on the entire Liverpool team rather than individuals. However, he reserved praise for the in-form Egyptian, suggesting the forward was beyond ‘world-class’ right now.
Potter said, “That’s a very good question. At the moment, he’s not world-class, he is out-of-this-world class! He is producing in all the big games too – Chelsea, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United.
“But, unfortunately for us, it’s not just him who is a top, top player for Liverpool. It’s a team. These top teams have wonderful individual players, but they are also a unit and a team, and we must try to deal with that.”
Anfield will be an exciting place at the weekend when it hosts two of the league’s best attacking sides this season, and all eyes will be on Salah to see if he continues his red-hot streak.
