Chelsea cruised to a 5-1 victory over Sunderland with goals from Batshuayi, Willian, Pedro and Hazard in John Terry’s final Premier League game as Chelsea Captain.

With this victory, Chelsea set a new Premier League win record of 30 wins in a single league season, never before achieved in the PL era. Thibaut Courtois was also awarded the Golden Glove after Hugo Lloris conceded a goal in Tottenham’s victory against Hull City.

More than anything, it was a day to celebrate John Terry’s career and the fans with their banners and constant applause made sure that their legendary skipper would have the best send off possible.

It didn’t start on a positive note however, Chelsea had a minor scare after Javier Manquillo of Sunderland threatened to spoil the party with an early goal.

It was so unexpected, even Sunderland’s twitter handle referred to it as ‘bizarre’

That lead didn’t last very long as Willian latched onto a deflected pass at the other end to fire Chelsea level.

And in the 26th minute, John Terry was brought off for Gary Cahill to a standing ovation. The game was momentarily stopped as the players swarmed toward the Legendary Englishman for hugs and high fives, before he walked off the pitch with a personal guard of honour. End of an era.

Eden Hazard very nearly tore the Sunderland net with a left foot strike into Jordan Pickford’s left-hand corner. 60 minutes played, 2-1.

Pedro was brought on for Hazard and thanks to an error from Joleon Lescott, headed the ball in to make it 3-1 with 76 minutes played.

Then Michy Batshuayi decided to get in on the action. 2 superb goals in stoppage time from the Belgian and a fitting message to the boss that he too, ought to be considered for a place in the FA Cup final against Arsenal.
