Goals from Danny Welbeck and Alexandre Lacazette allowed Arsenal to coast to a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.
The pressure was immense on the Gunners ahead of the international break but Arsenal managed to bounce back with a convincing win against Bournemouth. They looked like a much improved side as Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth proved no match for the north London club.
Incidentally, this was the Gunners’ first match since Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester City collapsed – and yet they looked potent enough even with last season’s top scorer gracing the bench. If this is what the side is capable of without the Chilean, perhaps Arsenal should just have indulged in the £60 million sale.
Welbeck kept his place but was shifted to the left flank as Lacazette came in to lead the line with Mesut Ozil in support. Hector Bellerin was restored to the right flank in a 3-4-2-1 that featured Sead Kolasinac wide left, with Shkodran Mustafi restored to defence, and it all worked out for Arsenal. If you could bottle this Ozil display up and bring it out every week, every top club in the world would be banging Arsenal's door down.
