Premier League giants Manchester United are all set to finalise the appointment of Michael Carrick as their next permanent manager.
Following their 3-2 win over Liverpool, Manchester United have secured Champions League football for the 2026/27 season. With the major objective accomplished, the Red Devils have now shifted their focus towards managerial appointments and transfers.
Interim boss Michael Carrick, who has transformed them and helped them secure a UCL spot, has been the favourite to become their next permanent manager for some time, and according to a report from TEAMtalk, key figures at Old Trafford have backed the move to finalise the appointment of the 44-year-old.
They are delighted with the work he has done since taking charge at the start of the year. The Red Devils have discarded eight top managers and are now set to hand the reins to Carrick on a permanent basis.
Following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, Carrick was brought in with the hope that he could help steady the ship and give them enough time to look at potential candidates. Not much was expected from the 44-year-old, but it seemed he was determined to have a massive impact at his former club.
The former Middlesbrough boss completely transformed the mood around Old Trafford, as he took them from mid-table straight into the top five. Under him, they have been involved in 14 league games and have won 10 of those outings, with just two defeats so far.
Carrick to continue at Old Trafford
The victory over Liverpool didn’t just secure Champions League qualification; it also, in a way, confirmed Carrick’s appointment on a permanent basis, even though the official confirmation is unlikely to arrive before the end of the season.
