Andoni Iraola keen on Newcastle United job

Having impressed at Bournemouth, Spanish manager Andoni Iraola now has his eyes set on the Newcastle United job.

A host of top clubs from across Europe will be after Andoni Iraola, who will be without a job this summer. The Spanish manager recently announced that he will be leaving Bournemouth after three successful seasons.

While quite a few clubs will be keen on his signature, Iraola would be interested in being the next Newcastle United manager if they sack Eddie Howe in the near future, as per Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider.

The 43-year-old took charge of the Cherries in the summer of 2023. He has transformed them into a high-pressure team, who are now fighting for a European spot from a team that used to finish in the bottom half.

After three successful seasons with the club, Iraola announced last week that he will be leaving the club this summer. His team defeated Newcastle United on Saturday, putting more pressure on Eddie Howe, while bolstering their own chances of securing European football.

Iraola is ready to replace Eddie Howe

Given how inconsistent Howe’s team have been this term, he could be sacked before the start of the season. Iraola is reportedly open to taking the Newcastle job if they do end up showing Howe the exit door.

The Magpies won’t be making any managerial decisions until the summer. They will give the English manager as much time as possible to turn things around. But if he fails, the axe could fall.

Iraola has been linked with quite a few top clubs, but he hasn’t made a final decision just yet. His team’s performance at St. James’ Park would have certainly impressed Newcastle bosses, and they could look at him as an interesting option if they do decide to part ways with Howe.

While speaking about Iraola’s future, O’Rourke said, “Iraola would be a good fit for Newcastle. He’s proven himself at Bournemouth.

“It’s a job that he would be interested in if it did become available.”

He has a great track record at Bournemouth, and that makes him an ideal candidate for the Newcastle job. If he is offered the role, the Spaniard will certainly be interested, as it will allow him to build a team that can take on the best teams in the country.
