Luis Enrique has reportedly made a ‘good impression’ on the Chelsea hierarchy, with the club yet to decide on the next full-time manager.

Christian Falk, via Caught Offside have given his thoughts on the Chelsea managerial race. The German journalist suggested Julian Nagelsmann was set to meet with the club and claimed that 52-year-old manager Luis Enrique made a ‘good impression’ on the Blues hierarchy.

The flurry of news that followed the sacking of Graham Potter linked a host of names to the vacant Chelsea job. Despite spending around £600 million on new players, they have endured a terrible season. The pressure is truly on the new owners to make the right call over their new manager.

Managers worldwide have seen their names linked by some media publications to the Chelsea role. From Marcelo Gallardo in South America to Ruben Amorim in Portugal, the Blues do not have a shortage of options.

The general consensus points towards a club appointing a known, elite name in the dugout to take their project forward. Julian Nagelsmann’s sudden availability made Chelsea owners take notice. The German remains linked with the job but has not met with club officials.

One person who has already met and presented his ideas was Luis Enrique. The former Spanish national team manager remained without a job since the World Cup. He was reportedly interviewed around the most recent international break. The revered coach also features on Tottenham’s radar, as a move to the Premier League seems imminent.

German journalist Christian Falk has now commented on the managerial race brewing at Stamford Bridge. He began by giving his perspective on Nagelsmann but then claimed Enrique has already made a ‘good impression’ on the Chelsea hierarchy.

Falk said, “Another former Bavarian who is very popular in England is Julian Nagelsmann. The coach should now have the opportunity to personally introduce himself to the bosses of Chelsea FC and present his ideas.”

“Just over a week ago, Luis Enrique also got this chance. The Spaniard is said to have made a good impression, with some media already speculating about an imminent agreement. So far, however, this has not happened, perhaps because the bosses want to get to know Nagelsmann first.”

Enrique has the pedigree and experience to manage a big club like Chelsea. It’s quite natural why the Spaniard remains one of the favourites for the job in the media. Reports suggested Chelsea reportedly plans on using Enrique in the chase of Barcelona midfielder Gavi.

However, as Falk said, there is no agreement with the 52-year-old manager, as reported by some sections of the media. The club will continue to evaluate their candidates. They could sit down with names like Nagelsmann in the coming weeks to finalise the position.
